This Thursday, Sep. 29th at 7pm in Weitz 172, theatre seniors Nathan Bern, Mairead Koehler, and Erik Sorensen will be debuting their comps performance – COCK, a play by Mike Bartlett.
After leaving his boyfriend, John falls for a woman. Confused, John seeks his boyfriend’s help. At the boyfriend’s suggestion, the three sit down to dinner to sort things out. As the evening grows increasingly vicious, John must work out who and what he is.
Of their process of coming together and making this performance, the Cock team disclose:
“For the theater comps, majors usually to choose a play to produce or star in. Winter term of last year, the three of us decided to collaborate on one show. We wanted a play that challenged us artistically and would give something new to the Carleton community. COCK is that. Over the last seven months we have pooled our creative resources, employing collaborative techniques from devised theater, Droznin movement from Russia, and all we have learned at Carleton and beyond, pushing each other to our limits every day. We’ve had a blast working on COCK. We hope that it will challenge our audience, make them laugh, and open up ideas for theater at Carleton in the future.”
Performances will be held from Thursday to Saturday (Sep. 29th to Oct. 1st).
