Summer Theater Returns to Carleton!

19 July 2019

Carleton’s Uninvited Company, a student-run summer theatre company, returns to the stage after an absence of several years. The re-constituted group plans a series of three productions, beginning on Friday, July 19 with Peter Shaffer’s BLACK COMEDY.  Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are a bargain at just $5 each for this re-inaugural season of the Company.

The Uninvited Company (UnCo for short), had a long, sometimes glorious, sometimes checkered, history beginning in the 1960s. Always student-run, UnCo provided opportunities for students to engage in every aspect of theatrical production, from acting and directing to lighting design to house management to set construction and more.

UnCo will perform this summer in the intimate small studio at the Weitz Center known as Weitz 172.

The schedule includes:

  • July 19 – 21:  BLACK COMEDY by Peter Shaffer – a hilarious farce that takes place during a power outage.
  • August 9 – 11: THE SEVEN DEGREES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE – an inventive new theatrical experience created in a collaborative process by the whole ensemble
  • August 23 – 25: WORLD PREMIERE – by Thomas Teeter ’21 – a new play by a budding Carleton playwright
