
Congratulations and thanks to all the students who participated in the CAMS department’s annual film festival, Festival de Cammes 2016. Special thanks to festival organizers Kayla Becich, Chris Griffin, Zachary Leonard, Camille Sanchez, Suhail Thandi, and Marla Erickson. The nicely-organized event kicked off with a “champagne” reception at 7pm, following by two hours of film screenings, with a 15 minute intermission, during which delicious fancy cupcakes were served.
Among the films screened were “Welcome to Carleton,” a funny time-traveling Admissions video produced by Chris Griffin and Josh Pitkofsky; “Bad Blood,” a beautiful dance piece by Cathy Lee; “Bedrock,” a compelling film about the pleasures and dangers of rock climbing, by Russell Hanson; “Chihiro,” a creative remix of a Miyazaki film, by Camille Sanchez; “hello tony,” an insightful documentary about a female punk band, by Bobby Volpendesta; “The [Neigh]bors,” an absorbing, surreal melodrama by Alexa Feeney; “John: The Day in the Life,” Jonah Berry’s comps film, The Final Cut; “Hellevator,” another animation masterpiece by Sam Frederich; “Endless,” a heartbreaking romance, by Vincent DeZutti and Angely Guevara; “Street Chai and Roti,” a perfectly paced travel film by Austin Neureiter, “left behind,” a revealing fictional portrait of a demoralized college student, by Ayana Lance and Gisell Calderon; “Back Home,” another innovative take on the experience of a demoralized college student, by Tumi Akin-Deko, “Pink,” a tight fictional exploration of a young woman’s experience of mental illness, by Jack Turzillo, and “The Blair Pitch Project,” a hilarious film about screenwriter Blair pitching ideas for films to a Hollywood producer, by Jillian Banner, Kayla Becich, and Grace Davis.
