This Friday, Nov. 11th at 7:30pm in Weitz 172, senior Theater Arts majors Annie Wang and Sasha Blinnikova will be debuting their comps performance, Stop Kiss by Diana Son.
“A poignant and funny play about the ways, both sudden and slow, that lives can change irrevocably,” says Variety. After Callie meets Sara, the two unexpectedly fall in love. Their first kiss provokes a violent attack that transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate.
Wang and Blinnikova first read the play two years ago in their Beginning Acting class. While they have grown in their understanding of the script, and in their collaborative process, one initial impression of the play Stop Kiss remains as “an incredible love story – a nuanced, modern approach to the delicate ways in which we determine others’ intentions, make decisions, and question our own identities.”
”We wanted to put on this show as our senior comprehensive project to further explore the ways in which our characters — and we, as female artists — find space for ourselves, give voice to our thoughts, and find comfort in our own convictions. More than anything, at this time, Stop Kiss has been a chance to examine the far-reaching effects of bigotry in our world and the restorative ability of love, patience, acceptance, and human understanding to conquer hate.”
