From the Royal Opera House – MADAMA BUTTERFLY

Joining our exciting National Theatre Live and Globe On Screen showings, the Weitz Cinema proudly debuts Opera on Screen this weekend with Puccini’s MADAMA BUTTERFLY, recorded live in London at the Royal Opera House.  Screening is free and open to the public on Sunday, April 23rd at 2:00 p.m.

This staging of the tale of tragic Cio-cio san, abandoned by her American lover Pinkerton, stars Ermonela Jaho in the title role, alongside Marcelo Puente, Scott Hendricks, and Elizabeth Deshong.  Antonio Pappano conducts; the production was directed by Moshe Leise and Patrice Caurier.
