On Monday, May 14, three Carleton classes will join MPR medical new analyst and UMN physician (and St. Olaf graduate) Dr. Jon Hallberg for a presentation of the Hippocrates Cafe, Hallberg’s celebrated exploration of medicine and the human condition through story and song. Each Hippocrates Cafe event centers on a central theme; this Monday in the Weitz Theater, the performance will focus on social justice in medicine, access to health care, and serving patients with HIV.
Carleton classes supporting the presentation include Biology 370: Selected Topics in Virology (Debby Walser-Kuntz), History 262: Public Health: History, Policy, Practice (Amna Khalid), and Religion 224: Religion, Science, and Modern Imagination (Mara Block).
Professional actors and musicians from the Twin Cities (including Penumbra Theatre regular T. Michael Rambo and guitarist Robert Bell, among others) will bring music, poetry and story to the stage. Dr. Hallberg will introduce the show topic and provide context for all pieces.
