“Danse Macabre” from the Carleton Symphony Band

22 October 2014

The musical score for “The Bride of Frankenstein” was composed by Franz Waxman and is known for being a particularly spooky piece. Waxman was born in Germany and immigrated to America just before World War Two. While in America, Waxman lived in Hollywood and began writing scores for American movies. His score for “The Bride of Frankenstein” became one of his most popular pieces and helped establish his career in the American film industry. He was appointed as Head of Music for Universal Studios and went on to compose for MGM and Warner Bros., other big names in Hollywood.

Waxman’s talent has won him multiple Oscars and Academy Awards, attesting to the quality of his work. Students and community members are encouraged to hear the Carleton Symphony Band present Waxman’s music as well as other eerie scores from popular horror films. The show will be on Friday, October 31, 2014 in the Weitz Center at 7:30PM. HALLOWEEN TREATS INCLUDED!
