In keeping with the idea of the Weitz Center as a creative laboratory, this week two artistic companies share their new works-in-progress with the Carleton community.
Sossy Mechanics, the dance/theatre team of Brian Sostek and Megan McClellan, delighted audiences this Fall with their performance TRICK BOXING. For the last few months they’ve been working on a new production, PIECES OF EIGHT that again incorporates their trademark wit and captivating choreography. On Tuesday, January 5th at 7:30p.m. and again on Sunday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m., the artists will share pieces of the new work and engage in conversation about the process. Both showings will be held in the Dance Studio at the Weitz.

On Saturday, January 9, the award-winning choral group Vocalessence will hold a day-long rehearsal of FOUR SAINTS IN THREE ACTS, the legendary collaboration between the writer Gertrude Stein and composer Virgil Thompson. At 4:00 p.m. in the Weitz Center Theater, they’ll open the rehearsal to interested members of the community, offering a glimpse of the production process for this demanding masterwork.
All events are free and open to the public.
