Global Cinema Series Brings the Best in Contemporary International Film to Carleton
10 February 2012An ongoing series of films at Carleton College’s Weitz Center for Creativity is showcasing the best of contemporary cinema from around the world. The Global Cinema series, presented by the College’s Department of Cinema and Media Studies and curated by assistant professor Jay Beck, is presented Wednesday evenings during the winter term in the Weitz Center for Creativity Cinema. All screenings are free and open to the public.

Video Feature: Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater Performance
10 February 2012The Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater (SPDT) performed at Carleton on Friday, Jan. 6, kicking off the winter term programming in the Weitz Center for Creativity. Dan McAlister ’13 interviewed Stuart Pimsler, who also talked about the collaborative class he taught at Carleton during the winter term, which brought politics and dance together in a unique but interesting cross-disciplinary way, and showed footage of the company’s performance in the Weitz Center Theater. The performance was supported by funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Legacy Amendment.

Carleton Kicks off the New Year with a Weekend of Contemporary Dance
31 December 2011Carleton College will kick off its 2012 arts calendar with two not-to-be-missed dance performances. On Friday, Jan. 6, the acclaimed Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater Company will appear, and on Saturday, Jan. 7, renowned Twin Cities choreographer and dancer Paula Mann will present “O The Humanity,” a collaboration with dancer Robert Haarman and videographer and animator Steve Paul, and featuring dancers from the Northfield community. Both events take place at 7:30 p.m. nightly in the Weitz Center for Creativity Theater and are free and open to the public.
