Carleton Kicks off the New Year with a Weekend of Contemporary Dance
31 December 2011Carleton College will kick off its 2012 arts calendar with two not-to-be-missed dance performances. On Friday, Jan. 6, the acclaimed Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater Company will appear, and on Saturday, Jan. 7, renowned Twin Cities choreographer and dancer Paula Mann will present “O The Humanity,” a collaboration with dancer Robert Haarman and videographer and animator Steve Paul, and featuring dancers from the Northfield community. Both events take place at 7:30 p.m. nightly in the Weitz Center for Creativity Theater and are free and open to the public. Limited seating is available; reservations for the Stuart Pimsler Company performance can be made online at https://apps.carleton.edu/curricular/thea/events/pimsler/.

Carleton Singers to perform at White House
1 December 2011The Carleton Singers have been selected to perform at the White House during its annual holiday tours. The performance will take place on Saturday, December 3, from 3:30-6 p.m. EST.

Photo Feature: The Tempest Opens
28 October 2011Carleton christened the new Weitz Center for Creativity’s theater this week with the Carleton Players’ presentation of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.” Honoring the College’s brand new theater, “The Tempest” is being directed by Ed Berkeley, Carleton Class of 1966 and a faculty member at the famed Juilliard School in New York City since 1987. Carleton student photographer Nina Shapiro ’14 captured images of the dress rehearsal.

World-Renowned Klezmer Musicians to Present a Special Evening of Yiddish Music at Carleton
3 October 2011Acclaimed German musician Kartsten Troyke and Trio Spreefalter will present a performance of traditional Yiddish Klezmer music in the Carleton College Skinner Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. This concert is free and open to the public.
