  • Carleton’s Visuality Conference Concludes with Vibrant Multimedia Performance, “Sound and Vision”

    “Visual Learning: Transforming the Liberal Arts,” concludes with a vibrant multimedia performance on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Weitz Center for Creativity Theater. “Sound and Vision” is curated by Nikki Melville, Carleton associate professor of music (and acclaimed composer and pianist), and features a diverse group of student artists using dance, film, computer graphics, and studio art to reinterpret and broaden the sensory experience. This performance is free and open to the public.

  • Cuban Choir to visit Carleton Sept 13

    EL CORO SHALOM, a 24-member vocal ensemble from Havana, Cuba, will visit Carleton Thursday, September 13th.  Activities will include an informal discussion of Cuban culture with members of the choir (4:00 p.m in the Weitz Center), a musical “exchange” with the Carleton Choir (5:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall), and a formal concert at 8:00 p.m. in the Concert Hall.

    New Exhibit in Perlman Teaching Museum Highlights Faculty Work

    Carleton College’s Perlman Teaching Museum opens the 2012-13 academic year with an exhibit highlighting new works by six studio art faculty members. Ibid. (Referencing Carleton Collections) will be on display in the Braucher Gallery in the Weitz Center for Creativity from September 14 through November 14, 2012. Entry to the exhibit is free and open to the public.

  • Carleton Announces the First Annual Northfield Summer Film Festival

    In collaboration with the Cannon Valley Elder Collegium, Carleton College is pleased to announce the first annual Northfield Summer Film Festival, running for four consecutive Tuesday evenings beginning July 10 and running through July 31. The theme of the series is “awakenings” and featured films include “Groundhog Day,” “After Life,” “The Crying Game,” and “Local Hero.” Screenings will be presented each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Weitz Center for Creativity Cinema and are free and open to the public.

  • Truffaut Masterpiece kicks off Film Society Spring

    Carleton’s Film Society launches its Spring series with a screening of Francois Truffaut’s masterpiece, THE 400 BLOWS.  This intensely touching story of a misunderstood young adolescent who left without attention, delves into a life of petty crime, is one of the defining films of the French New Wave.

    Screening at 7:00 Saturday, March 31 in the Weitz Center Cinema.  All Film Society screenings are free and open to the public.

    Global Cinema Series Continues with the Best in Contemporary International Film

    An ongoing series of films at Carleton College’s Weitz Center for Creativity, showcasing the best of contemporary cinema from around the world, will present John Sayles’ “Lone Star” on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. The Global Cinema series, presented by the College’s Department of Cinema and Media Studies and curated by assistant professor Jay Beck, is free and open to the public.

  • Carleton Students Host Dance Showcase With Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater Company

    The Carleton College Department of Theater and Dance will present a special Winter Dance Showcase on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Weitz Center for Creativity Studio. Featuring guest artist Heather Klopchin and members of the acclaimed Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater Company along with 35 Carleton students, this event is free and open to the public.
