New public art/light fixture appears in Evelyn M. Anderson Hall.

Winter break saw the installation of a sparkling new sculptural light fixture in the Atrium of Evelyn M. Anderson Hall, Carleton’s new integrated science facility.

Designed by a team led by architect Wendy Joseph of New York City-based Studio Joseph, the work is a culmination of a far-ranging community process that sought input from all sectors of Carleton. Associate Dean Gretchen Hofmeister facilitated an on-campus group that collected ideas and worked with the designers.

“When the College committed to a functional artwork in this highly visible space, we wanted to hear as many voices as possible,” commented Steve Richardson, Director of the Arts. “Wendy Joseph and her team did a terrific job of translating that chorus of Carleton voices into a unique piece that fits the architecture of Anderson and the culture of Carleton beautifully.”
