Directed by award-winning artist Stephan Koplowitz, the immersive production interlaces theater, dance, visual installations, and digital media throughout Northfield.

The Kracum Performance Hall, named for benefactors Rich Kracum ’76 and Laurie Weiss Kracum ’76, is the centerpiece of the Weitz Center for Creativity’s new Music and Performance Commons.

As classes began this fall, Carleton College celebrated the opening of a new 55,000-square-foot addition, the Music and Performance Commons, at the Weitz Center for Creativity. The Weitz Center addition, designed by national multidisciplinary design firm HGA, unites the music department for the first time and furthers the college’s strategic plan by gathering theater, dance, cinema, media studies and now music into one dynamic facility.

A gift of $20 million from Barbara ’70 and Wally ’70 Weitz and family—including children Katie ’96, Roger ’99 and his wife Kate, and Drew ’02 and his wife Meredith ‘02— will make possible a music performance commons addition to the Weitz Center for Creativity. Public groundbreaking for the new facility is Friday, May 13.
