Student Experience

Art History studies the intrinsic qualities of artistic images and artifacts. We examine how they were made and how they are viewed. We consider their functions and meanings, and how the objects record and shape people, perceptions, events, and cultures. Students gain skills in observing, analyzing, and interpreting works of art.

Studio Art helps students develop skills in various arts media. This includes sculpture, ceramics, photography, painting, drawing, and printmaking. Studio Art majors produce an independent studio project during their senior year. The project concludes with a spring exhibition in the campus art museum.
