As a child, I loved bugs. I was fascinated by the fact that they were alive, like me, but yet so different. Surprisingly, the adults around me did not feel the same way. They hated bugs, hated anything they considered a pest. And worst of all: they believed that I should hate them too. The confusion that this caused me as a child has inspired my intricate work.

Through the use of 91 unique plates, I am representing the diversity of life and exploring the question “Why are we taught to hate anything?”
