Kaitlyn Lu (They/Theirs and She/Hers)
Biology and Studio Art double major
I made these artworks as an interpretation of peaceful moments in nature through mirrored characteristics of the media I chose, using the flowing of watercolor, the rippling and dappled effect of cotton fiber, and the transparency of glass beads. Paint and material layers echo the quiet meditation of sitting and enjoying the outdoors, treasuring the ethereal micro and macrocosms that can be observed and appreciated if you look closely.
I wanted this collection of work to represent what is a universal experience for everyone — sitting outside in nature — but through my own personal visual and sensory experiences, incorporating nostalgic scenic imagery from my life.
