Alisa Cherkashina (She/Her/Hers)
Studio Art Major, Classics Minor
I often think about if our memories are truly our own. Why can’t we forget some moments? Where do our memories go after we are gone? Does memory really belong to us?
My artwork explores these questions, drawing on folklore tales I grew up with in Eastern Europe. The tales taught me that memories are tied to the soul, not the mind. They are buried deep within us, and we carry them with us, lifetime after lifetime.
This work is a reflection of my childhood nostalgia and my search for something I can not quite remember. Through drawings, collages, and experimental techniques, I set out to explore themes of nostalgia, death, and eternal memory (вечная память).
