A random assortment of materials, well-worn by months or years in the churning Atlantic, is offered up for reevaluation. The beach near my home features an ever-changing display of debris—plastic, wood, rubber, leather, glass, etc.—that is oftentimes incapable of its once intended purpose, but nevertheless proves relevant to the occasional beachgoer. For me, this newfound interest in the discarded or lost items stems both from their overtly physical appearance and an intellectual appreciation for how they have been altered from their original state. In my work, I attempt to address this fascination with found objects by isolating, and so too glorifying, fragments snatched from the sand. The prints, which correspond to the outline of the objects, are meant to evoke the moment in which each item caught my eye.
