Events such as a basement flood, frustrating trips through airport baggage claims, and Easter mass in the Catholic church I attended as a child have great personal significance. In an exploration of objects and spaces, I translate familiar (habitual) environments into line drawings. With every step in my process, I remove myself further from the direct experience of my physical subject matter. As I reproduce the experience of physical space, altering its composition, objects become the idea of objects, recreated by my hand, on my terms.

These pieces deal with symbolism, time, and memory, both individual and collective. Unintentionally, I assign meanings to the objects pictured, hoping that my viewer will do the same. By combining impulsive and precise techniques, it is my intention is that these pieces remain both objective and subjective.

How do objects influence our identities? Are objects and spaces mere accessories to experience? Or can they express deeper truths about our lives?
