Professor of Art Linda Rossi has been awarded an Individual Artist Grant for Advancing Artists from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC) for her project “Photographic Puzzles of Rice County.”

Senior Lecturer in Art, Dan Bruggeman will exhibit his latest paintings, “From Voids That Are Never Empty” at Groveland Gallery.

Fred Hagstrom is part of the exhibit “Third Space: shifting conversations about contemporary art.” The Birmingham Museum of Art presents Third Space, the first large exhibition of contemporary art from the Museum’s own collection.Third Space features over 100 works of art in a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and video. The exhibition creates connections between the American South and other parts of the world using contemporary art.

Professor of Art, is exhibiting her visual work at Swan Vision Gallery in Maiden Rock, Wisconsin June 23 through July 28. “Photosynthesis at Maiden Rock” is a mixed media installation which explores the flora and fauna of Rice County, Minnesota.

Associate Professor of Art, has two ceramics sculptures on exhibit at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis through July 15. The exhibition features five local artists in conjunction with The Fantastical Worlds of Kim Simmonson.

Steven Mohring designed the set for the next Ten Thousand Things Theater Company’s production of The Good Person of Szechwan by Bertolt Brecht. Public performances will be held May 3 through 6, 17 through 20 and 24 through 27 at St Paul’s ELCA, May 10 through 13 and May 31 through June 3 at the Open Book.

Jessica Keating, Assistant Professor of Art History, presents “Collecting Exotica, Picturing New Worlds” at the Getty’s exhibition “Rembrandt and the Inspiration of India” on April 8, 2018.

Alison M. Kettering, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Art History, Emerita, and Heidi Eyestone, Curator of the Visual Resources Collection, announce the publication of the Winter 2018 issue of  Journal of Historians of Netherlandish Art. Alison is Editor-in-Chief; Heidi is Managing Editor; and Noah Scheer ’18 and Joe Druckman ’19 are student assistants.  The journal is celebrating its tenth year.

Instructor in Art Danny Saathoff exhibits an immersive art installation about ice formation and the effects of climate change on Lake Superior. February 20-March 3 at the Grand Marais Art Colony.

Jessica Keating will present “Early Modern Automata: Animating Art History” at the “New Approaches to Preindustrial Technology: Bodies, Minds, and Machines” International Workshop at Yale University in April 2018.
