  • Jade Hoyer Receives MN State Arts Board Grant

    Jade Hoyer, assistant professor of art, has received a 2024 Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Hoyer will collaborate with Greenvale Park Elementary School staff and students in Northfield to create large-scale visual artworks on recycled handmade paper. The works will be displayed in a public installation, furthering the Creative Individuals program’s goals of connecting and engaging with members of the Minnesota community.

    Katie Ryor, Tanaka Memorial Professor of International Understanding and Art History, published an article, “He Liangjun (1506-1573), ‘On Painting’: An Annotated Translation,” in the journal Ming Studies. In the same issue is her interview with Julia K. Murray, professor emerita at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, part of the journal’s series of conversations with recently retired luminaries in the field of Ming dynasty humanities.
