During mid-term break Baird Jarman took the students in his seminar The Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright on a three-day field trip through Wisconsin and Illinois. In Wisconsin they spent half a day exploring Taliesin, Wright’s home and architectural headquarters, and then visited Madison to see the Jacobs House, Wright’s first “Usonian Home,” and the Unitarian Meeting House. In the Chicago and Oak Park areas they toured the Wright landmarks Robie House, Unity Temple, and the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, as well as visiting other sites. Wright scholar and Carleton alum Sidney Robinson graciously met the class at both Taliesin and Unity Temple, and then hosted the weary travels at his own home, the iconic Ruth Ford House designed by Bruce Goff.
