Winter issue edited by Alison Kettering
31 March 2014William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Art History, and Editor-in-Chief of the refereed Journal of Historians of Netherlandish Art, announces the Winter 2014 issue. The articles focus on Hugo van der Goes’s Nativity in Berlin in the context of the Devotio Moderna (by Jessica Buskirk ’98) along with a codicological study of a Franco-Flemish book of hours, a technical study of Gerrit Dou’s paintings, and a translation of an article on civic guard portraits from the 1880s.

Excellence in Teaching Printmaking Award
31 March 2014Fred Hagstrom received the 2014 excellence in teaching printmaking award from the Southern Graphics Council International, the largest international organization in printmaking. There is only one teaching award given annually, and Fred is the first to receive it who teaches in an undergraduate program.

Juliane Shibata wins award
13 January 2014Juliane Shibata ’01, Off-Campus Studies Program Assistant for the English Literature and Theater in London program and former Visiting Professor of Art, was awarded a 2014 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grant to create small-scale porcelain installations and design new methods to display the work.
