Since her graduation from Carleton in 2002, Jing has translated her fine arts study to the realm of digital art making. During her two years MFA study at Parsons School of Design in New York, she focused on integrating interactive technologies with dance in the context of live performance. Upon her completion of the MFA study, she continued this research as an Artist-in-Residence at FutureLab in Austria where she collaborated with the Austrian video artist, Klaus Obermaier, on a large scale media augmented modern dance piece called “Apparition.” The performance was premiered at the Ars Electronica Festival and later traveled to other dance festivals in London, Singapore, and HongKong. Currently Jing is living in Berlin and working for Art+Com, an acclaimed design agency that specializes in interactive media installations for public space, museums, and various exhibition space. Her role as a designer consists of developing informative and playful interaction concepts, designing user friendly graphical interface, and creating computational sketches to demonstrate the interaction concepts. In the meantime, she continues to discover expressive elements that technology can bring to the dance world.
