Carleton will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Arboretum during the 2026-2027 academic year. Proposed by Botany Professor Harvey Stork, and established by College President Donald Cowling, the Arboretum has a rich history. That history is currently being documented through numerous efforts and will culminate in a year-long celebration of activities. Watch for our calendar of events coming soon!
One project has been to document the history of the Arboretum which will culminate in the publication of a book to be completed spring of 2026. An annotated bibliography was created during the research for this project and is available in the Arboretum Digital Archives hosted by the Gould Library.
Both projects have been supported in part with funds provided by the State of Minnesota from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Minnesota Historical Society.
