Mill Towns Bike Trail Construction Continues: Arboretum Trail and Parking Lot Closures

1 December 2025

Construction crews for the Mill Towns Bike Trail continue to make progress on the section of the trail through Northfield, including along the east edge of the Arboretum.  Construction of the segment of the trail that passes along the edge of the Arboretum got started in August with clearing of vegetation along Spring Creek Road in August and along Canada Avenue in November. New, starting in December, the trail that parallels Canada Avenue, plus the two parking lots located there will be closed throughout the winter while grading occurs. This trail surface is very rough, with stumps, rocks and uneven ground contributing to dangerous conditions. Please respect these closures for your safety and allow the workers to complete the project without interference.

Note that a short section of trail has been added as a connector to allow access to sections of the lower Arboretum trail system that otherwise would dead-end at the construction site.

The section of the arboretum trail near the construction site for the Hwy 19 underpass will continue to be closed over the next year as the trail in that area is re-routed, the underpass installed and new grass planted.  The parking lots and entrances in the vicinity of the new underpass will also be closed during the construction project.

See the maps below for parking lot and trail closures, plus the new connector trail.
