The Carleton College Cowling Arboretum will host “An Evening on the Prairie,” Tuesday, August 26, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Led by Nancy Braker, director of the Cowling Arboretum, the event is free and open to the public.
Following a three-mile hike on gravel trails, “An Evening on the Prairie” is an opportunity to view the abundant flowering of the prairie in late summer, watch the sun set, and enjoy the call of the red-tailed hawk. Braker will also discuss efforts to restore and manage Carleton’s 150-acre example of a restored tallgrass prairie.
Participants will gather at the Cowling Arboretum Kiosk in front of the Carleton Recreation Center at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call the Cowling Arboretum at (507) 222-4543.
