Arb Volunteer Event - Invasive Shrub Control

Sat, October 18, 2025 • 9:00am - 12:00pm (3h) • 819 Second Street East, Northfield, MN 55057

Join us to work on restoration of the forest of the Upper Arboretum by removing invasive shrubs.  We are focusing on tree lilac and are making a lot of progress with this shrub that becomes invasive in natural areas. While the tree lilac in your yard may be well behaved, once in a natural area it can take over if not controlled. Long-sleeved shirt and pants are recommended, plus closed toe shoes.  Please bring your water bottle.  Cancelled if raining.  Contact Nancy Braker (nbraker@carleton.edu) with questions.

Meet at the bridge over Spring Creek, just down hill from the Arboretum entrance at Oak and Second Streets, near the Carleton tennis courts.  We will be working near the bridge, so feel free to come anyway if you are running late!
