Carleton Arboretum Volunteer Event - McKnight Prairie brush removal

Sat, October 15, 2022 • 9:00am - 12:00pm (3h) • McKnight Prairie - 8 miles east of Northfield

McKnight Prairie shrub control

Help remove invading aspen and sumac from this high-quality, College owned, prairie remnant.   Managed by the college since 1963, McKnight is home to a number of rare species and over 250 native plant species. This site is protected through a conservation easement with the Prairie Bank Program of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR). Volunteer assistance will compliment work conducted by private contractors and help provide the match needed for a grant from the Conservation Partners Legacy Grant Program of the MNDNR.

Please sign up for this event here.

Please register to allow us to plan for enough equipment and allow us to contact you if plans change due to weather or other factors beyond our control.

Wear long plants and closed toe shoes. Bring your own drinking water. Find directions and a map to the site plus more information about McKnight Prairie here.
