Standing 3 to 6 feet tall, White Wild Indigo (Baptisia alba) is a large and early-blooming member of the Bean family (Fabaceae) that can be identified by its conspicuous white, pea-like flowers and its compound leaves that have three oval-shaped leaflets. The plant’s flowers are arranged on long stalks and typically bloom from late-May through early-June. White Wild Indigo is pollinated primarily by large bumblebees and is a source of food for several insect species.
