Chokecherry Flowers (Prunus virginiana)
#14 of 18
The chokecherry is one of the most common shrubs in North America. It is small—growing to be only 10-25 feet tall—with fruit that is often used in jellies, jam, and wine. Chokecherry flowers grow in long clusters and are white with orange-yellow centers. From May-June, chokecherry flowers provide nectar for pollinators such as butterflies, honeybees, flies, and hummingbirds. In the Arboretum, look for chokecherries in edgy areas.
