2020 Annual Arboretum Report Now Available

21 April 2021

Over the past year the Arboretum has provided a valuable space for our community to enjoy nature and spend time outdoors. We have welcomed members of the public as well as the College Community to walk, run or ski our trails and enjoy what nature has to offer. Many of you have volunteered to help keep the Arboretum a place that all can enjoy, whether by picking up trash, removing invasive species or grooming the ski trails. Thanks to all of you for your help!

Each year we compile our major accomplishments to share with friends of the college in our annual report. Because we can only report on a small fraction of our work, please feel free to be in touch if you have any questions or would like more information about any of these projects.

The report is full of news about how we and the Arboretum have persisted through this trying year. Our campus and Northfield communities have found respite and refreshment on the trails of the Arboretum. Our volunteers have continued to provide service despite the challenges of physical distancing. And our faculty and students have found inspiration and intellectual stimulation even as they work remotely.

In the report we share the lovely discovery of a rare flower that helped brighten our summer, as well as news about how our faculty continued to work with students and recent alumni on publications reporting on Arboretum based research. We also share several new initiatives that we hope will interest you; our trail camera project and how we introduced our incoming students to the Arboretum this year.

Reports from this year and previous years are available if you want to catch up on all things Arboretum!
