Special Collections Spotlight
Students in AMST 345: Theory and Practice of American Studies are taking part in an immersive, hands-on Special Collections unit centered on this nineteenth-century tintype photograph encased in a Haudenosaunee beaded frame. Through close engagement with archival records and material culture analysis, students have worked to uncover the story of the individual named in the photograph’s inscription, while exploring the many layered histories embedded in the object itself.
Join us in the reference room to learn more from Associate Professor of American Studies and History Meredith McCoy and Special Collections Librarian Jackie Beckey. The tintype will be exhibited for two weeks. Remarks will begin at noon. All are welcome!
