Chelsea Prax ’09 leads the Grief-Sensitive Educator project for the American Federation of Teachers to increase access to training and supportive resources on best practices to support bereaved students. Join us as she reviews the origin and content of the project, as well as its impact in the ongoing global pandemic. Originally from Minnesota, Prax earned a B.A. in French & francophone studies from Carleton in 2009, and later a Masters in public health from the University of Maryland. She currently directs Children’s Health & Well-Being programs for the AFT. Her recent work includes promoting pediatric vaccinations through national campaigns that leverage educators as trusted messengers; coordinating professional learning on evidence-based, tier 1 trauma-informed practices; and constituency organizing among specialized instructional support personnel.
