How close-reading Brontë prepared me to
legalize cannabis in Minnesota

with Laura Monn Ginsburg '06

Thursday, November 9, 2023
9 a.m. Central Time

via Zoom

Laura Monn Ginsburg '06 will discuss how her Carleton English major was essential to the multi-year legislative fight to legalize adult-use cannabis in Minnesota. The cannabis division of Laura's Minneapolis-based public affairs firm, Blunt Strategies, managed the MN is Ready campaign that connected grassroots advocacy with grasstops navigation to make a long-realized desire—to responsibly legalize and regulate adult-use cannabis while centering the communities most harmed by prohibition—get through the state legislature.

Register by Wednesday, November 8 to participate in this Zoom event.

Laura Monn Ginsburg’s greatest asset is time management. She runs a public affairs business, Apparatus, that she started with a friend in 2016 after spending a decade in corporate marketing at software companies ranging from $0 start-ups to $3B multi-national outfits. Apparatus is a General Benefit Corporation that works to advance social justice and equity and environmental sustainability. Laura’s most proud that her women-owned, women-run business has been able to stand out as a good company doing good things for Minnesota. When not running her company, Laura’s running and sitting on various nonprofit boards.

Outside the board room and office, Laura lives in Minneapolis with her husband, Elliot, whom she met in her first year at Carleton College. They have a son, Harold, who has a great sense of humor and an indisputable grasp of sarcasm, and two somewhat-behaved dogs, Zoe and Arby G.
