Carl Talks—25 Years of the GSC and the Future of Queer Life at Carleton
Carl Talks
25 Years of the GSC and the Future of Queer Life at Carleton
with GSC Director Jonathan Gonzales
Thursday, June 11, 2026
3 p.m. Central Time
via Zoom
During the 2026–2027 academic year, Carleton’s Gender & Sexuality Center (GSC) marks a major milestone: 25 years of advocacy, celebration, education, and inclusion! While the national climate presents real challenges for the LGBTQIA+ community, the GSC has responded by expanding its work to cultivate spaces and create programming to increase queer and trans joy, resilience, and belonging on campus.
Join GSC Director Jonathan Gonzales (they/them/JoGo) for an open, forward-looking conversation about what it means to anchor this vital work at Carleton today. In this session, JoGo will share highlights and stories from the GSC's 25 years, offer a sneak peek at the upcoming 25th-anniversary celebrations, and discuss the realities and rewards of supporting queer and trans students in the current climate. This session will be a space to reconnect with the GSC’s history and look ahead to the future of queer and trans life at Carleton.
JoGo joined the Carleton community in July 2024, bringing a wealth of higher education experience from previous roles that included work spanning queer resource centers, multicultural affairs, residence life, international student services, student activities, and academic advising. JoGo is deeply engaged in the broader community, serving on the Board of Northfield Pride and as the Chair of the Minnesota College Personnel Association (MNCPA) LGBTQIA+ Commission.
Co-sponsored by Out After Carleton.
