Willie Lorenz introduced us to Tom. Tom's passion was film. In Spring 1970, Tom worked with Chris Vandercook, John Greenman, Nelson Rhodes, Willie, and others to organize a campus film company. They filmed the Leo Kottke concert as well as other events on campus. Last I heard, Tom was working for news media in the western Pacific, with productions in the Marshalls and Hawaii. On Youtube, there is a video of a distribution of a "Last Flight of Tom Garbisch" with hangglider distribution of ashes of 'news photographer Tom Garbisch' and I suspect it offers a film version worth viewing as a memory of Tom: https://youtu.be/EcFF79AzwcQ?si=rU-NebBcSOivbOfA (film attributed to Terry Hunter). I'm hopeful that others can say more. Certainly Tom's work and his film company should be mentioned when there is a history of film activities at Carleton. Be of good cheer even in trying times.
