Terry Rittenhouse ’70

24 September 2018

Class: 1970

Major: Art History

Deceased: September 14, 2018

Gale, Terry Lee Age 70 of Minneapolis passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 14th at Fairview Southdale Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Terry was born in Minneapolis on April 20th, 1948. She graduated from University High School in 1966 and from Carleton College in 1970. After raising her son Sam in Minnetrista, Terry turned her passion for design into the creation of Skeins Yarn Store in Hopkins, which she owned for 22 years before retiring in the Spring of 2017. The store served as community focal point with friends and customers often stopping by just to say hello. In addition to her keen eye for style, Terry was a foodie who loved cooking and trying new restaurants. She was a voracious reader that fueled her sharp intellect and curiosity. An avid adventurer, Terry was quite a cosmopolitan woman and enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and internationally with her closest friends. Most of all, Terry cherished the friendships she made throughout her life. Terry is survived by her son, Samuel, & daughter-in-law, Joanna. Memorial donations were directed to a cancer charity or research fund.“““““““““““““““““““““Wow, am I sorry to hear Terry’s gone. We were roommates in Evans and she was instrumental in getting me re-started with knitting (which I’d learned to do when young). Knitting got me through convocations! And I’ve worked in textiles ever since, including teaching hand-spinning, weaving, knitting, and more.  I wish our paths had been able to cross again after I left Carleton.–Thanks, Terry, for being a great roommate and for the re-introduction to sticks and string.Deborah Robson ’70
