I enjoyed talking to Sue over the years and especially hearing about all of generous gifts she and her family provided for the Japanese Garden at Carleton.
Her daughter Sarah and my daughter Kim Wade (91) were friends at Carleton.
She also attended the same high school in Houston that my wife did.
Sue graduated from Lamar Senior High School in Houston, Texas. She and her husband Sam retired in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Sue enjoyed a long career in education. In Minneapolis Public Schools, she had been a Title One tutor, a classroom teacher and a teacher in a gifted/talented program in a K-8 school. Thereafter, she was director of student financial aid and registrar at the University of Minnesota for 32 years.
In retirement, she and Sam traveled abroad, enjoyed reading, and were active in volunteer work such as the County Task Force supporting the Child Protection System.
In her words at our 50th Reunion..."Spending summers at the lake home which had been in Sam's family for over a century, we are reminded daily of the beauty and nourishing power of nature. I wish you all the same sense of happiness. "
