A remembrance by Hugh Cameron
I had a nice affinity with Steve from our first days on 3rd Davis. We palled around a lot and I liked him. He spent two days trying to prepare me for the intramural wrestling tourney and I recall how thorough he was, though my lack of talent prevailed. Junior year we went on a trip to ski in Colorado, and he taught me how to maneuver, so by the end of that week we were skiing together down some decent runs.
Steve was an easygoing and pleasant friend. At the end of junior year I wrote a long letter to him in Midland, Michigan expressing thanks for teaching me to ski and saying that I looked forward to a good senior year with him. Steve did not return senior year. I never saw him again, and he died young. I feel a sadness and loss for Steve.
