Samir, you are missed. No one embodied the Carleton spirit more than you did, and I will always think of you whenever I see a new piece of Carleton swag. Thank you for your dedication to our beloved alma mater and to the broader Carleton community. My life is richer for having known you and I'm grateful we had a chance to get together for pizza in Chicago at the end of last year. Rest well, my friend.

I’ll always remember Samir from our days as political science students at Carleton — trading good-natured barbs in the Sayles computer lab, debating policy late into the night on KRLX, and helping transform late-night brainstorming into real ideas for my COMPS project. He used to jokingly call me Patrick Bateman (all in good fun), and though we didn’t always see eye to eye ideologically, we always shared a deep respect and genuine enjoyment of each other’s spiritedness and passion.

Samir’s zeal for life, ideas, and community was contagious. I feel truly lucky to have known him — and am a better person for it. Rest in peace, my friend.

I'll never forget Samir's brilliant tagline for some campaign he was running: "Let's talk Bhalatics." You'll be missed

Samir will be missed. He loved, loved Carleton. I will admit that I didn’t know Samir that well, but he sought ways to connect with those around him that made lasting memories. For instance, Samir knew I liked music, it was something we bonded over. For most of the years following college, Samir would send me a Spotify playlist that he has made for me—such a thoughtful gesture that made me feel so appreciated.

It unfair that someone with such a zest for life is gone so soon. We will miss him, and it was my honor getting to spend time with him.
