I bring sad news that my classmate and friend Ron Rowe died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning 22 March 2016 at the age of 71. His sister called me a few minutes ago to let me know.
I believe Ron led a peaceful and happy life. He greatly enjoyed creating his poetry and his art, and he continually strove to improve both, a sure sign of a youthful attitude. He was delighted that Mary Ellen Rouen was inspired to create a sculpture based on his art and poetry, and he was thrilled to receive the sculpture as a gift.
I’m sad that he died. We were in the middle of publishing his second book of poetry … I had just sent him the final proofs for his approval. I’ll make the book available to all of you.
There will be a memorial service for him at his sister’s home in the Boston area on Saturday 16 April 2016. Bonnie and I will plan to attend.
He was a true friend.
