Robert M. Leekley of Bloomington died Tuesday (Jan. 1, 2019) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
He was born Dec. 23, 1945.
Bob was raised in Westport, Conn., and moved to the Midwest to attend Carlton College and then to Michigan State for a master’s degree and Ph.D. His education was interrupted by service in the U.S. Army.
Bob came to Illinois Wesleyan University in 1974 and retired in 2018 after 44 years.
He loved teaching, especially the one-on-one interaction with students doing senior and honors research papers. He taught economics and statistics and authored a text, “Applied Statistics for Business and Economics.” He also enjoyed bringing innovative technologies to the classroom.
Bob is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lorna and Richard Kaluzny, Princeton, N.J., and his nieces, Gretchen Kaluzny, Chicago, and Amy Wieczkowski, San Antonio, Texas, and her daughters, Emma and Sara.
