Your attention is called to the obituary that accompanies Russ's photograph above.
Russ came to Carleton from St. Charles High School in St. Charles, Missouri. He graduated from Baylor University College of Medicine in 1968. His significant medical practice was in the New York City area where he pioneered in children's orthopedics research and treatment. Russ became a standout in his field where he was revered and respected. His professional career spanned over 40 years in service to children with physical disabilities.
I knew Russ quite well at Carleton, but I became even better acquainted with him after he retired and moved to Pacific Beach, California which is very near my home in Coronado, California. On occasion we would meet for lunch at a bar/restaurant on the beach near his home, and sometimes near my home. He was great fun to share a burger and beer with as we talked about old times at Carleton. Russ was the nicest man; gentle, caring, considerate and attentive. I will miss him.
