Obituary

Peter “Pete” Murray was an economics major at Carleton and later graduated from the Wharton School of Business. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, had four children and six grandchildren. They moved to Baraboo, Wisconsin, in 2000. An obituary included this tribute:

“Peter is best known in the community for the service he performed as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Baraboo. He began the communitywide Thanksgiving meal drive, a project that has provided thousands of dinners to families. He began the Peanut Butter Lunch Bunch, a community project to provide food to children of low-income families when the school lunch program is not available. For years, he led a community garden project to provide fresh produce for the food pantry.

“His greatest service passion was the creation of Neighborly, a community free clothing store he founded in 2007 and continued until his death…. Neighborly provides more than 11,000 garments annually to neighbors in need.”
