Nancy Leavenworth Schader of Longmont, Colorado passed away May 15, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 61. Nancy was born to Richard and Ann Leavenworth on March 1, 1953, and grew up on the shores of Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. She graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1971, and received a BA degree from Carleton College in 1975. She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1982, and received her board certification in ophthalmology in 1988. In 1989 she married Robert Schader and moved to Boulder Colorado. Nancy was a third generation ophthalmologist, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. Until her retirement in 2013, she practiced medicine at Kaiser Permanente, where she was respected and well-liked by her peers and patients. Nancy was active and outgoing, and devoted to her family. She enjoyed golf, tennis, sailing, cycling, travelling and reading. She was kind, wise and gracious, and touched the lives of many.
