Mary Louise Kolderie, 76, of Red Wing, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at the Red Wing Health Center.
She was born Aug. 30, 1941, in Minneapolis to Adrian and Ruth (Williams) Kolderie. She graduated from North High School in 1959 and from Carleton College in 1963. She enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963 and served until she was honorably discharged as Captain in 1967. She served in various places, including two years at Camp Zama, Japan. In 1970, she received her master’s degree in Education from the University of Minnesota. She taught physical therapy at the University of Texas in Galveston for nine years. She received her Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Menomonie. She moved to Red Wing in 1990 and worked as a physical therapist in Red Wing and Plum City, Wis., until retiring in 1998.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she was Senior Warden and Junior Warden. She served on the vestry, the Altar Guild and various committees along with participating in and leading Bible studies. She volunteered at the Minnesota Zoo for 21 years and was a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
She is survived by her cousins, Ted (Midge) Kolderie, Kay Kolderie White, Janice (David) Gooding, Nancy (Nick) Grammas, Sally (Ken) Mack, Roger Williams and Marilyn (Al) Richie. She is also survived by her last pet dog, Dulce Hope, who is now living with Mary and Barney Flueger. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and aunts and uncles, along with her special pet dogs, Laddie, Gonshan, Jerry, Sasha, Lucky, Joe and Faith.
A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Christ Episcopal Church, 321 West Ave., in Red Wing. Burial was at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Zoo.
