Larry was from Birmingham, Michigan and came to Carleton from Culver Military Academy in Indiana.

He graduated from Wayne State University of Medicine in Michigan in 1968 and performed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Boston University Medical Center from 1968 to 1972.

Larry practiced at Los Angeles County-Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and received a Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology 1977-1978.

Larry practiced 35 years at the county hospital and at Kaiser-Permanente in Fresno, California. He practiced in the Department of Oncology specializing in diagnosing and treating cross-system illnesses that affect multiple organ systems.

In his retired years, Larry and family resided in Riggins, Idaho where Larry loved the outdoors and obtained permits for guiding river rafts, canoes and kayaks. Larry called this his white water rafting addiction.

Larry’s specialty became guiding water craft on the Salmon River in Idaho. The salmon has no dams for 438 miles and has the best rafting in the lower 48. And, according to Larry, there is a “complete absence of mosquitoes” on the river. That is probably because the water channel moves very swiftly.

Larry loved his Detroit Red Wings Professional Hockey Team. He invited his Carleton classmate friends to join him and his family for a memorable experience in Michigan at the Detroit Red Wings hockey camp. They skated with hockey legends with names like Gordy Howe and Terry Sawchuk.

According to a classmate, it was “an experience never to be forgotten.”
