Larry Nathaniel Nettles died of complications due to AIDS in his home in Minneapolis on Thursday, December 15. Nettles, a native of Detroit, MI, graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1972. Nettles came to Minnesota to attend Carleton College in Northfield MN, and after graduating in 1976 began working at The Prudential in the Claim Division. He was soon promoted to the position of supervisor, and later to Home Office Representative where he was responsible for claims investigation. In 1981, Nettles left The Prudential to attend the University of Minnesota Law School. He returned to The Prudential in 1984 as an attorney. In the same year he was promoted to Assistant Counsel, and in 1988 was promoted to Associate Counsel. Nettles coordinated and tutored the bar review course sponsored by the Minnesota Minority Lawyers Association and more recently volunteered with Person to Person. He is survived by his partner, William Larson; parents, John and Marie Nettles, Phoenix, AZ; three sisters all of Detroit, MI: Iris Nettles, Barbara Rutland and Rosalyn Ervin; niece, Darlene Pamela Ervin, nephew, Grover Ervin, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
