I knew Mike from playing basketball at Carleton. He always stuck out in my mind as one of the most decent, kind-hearted, not-a-mean bone-in-his-body person I have ever met. I understand there are currently 135 people planning on coming to the memorial Chris has planned for him in May. That is perhaps the best evidence of how far his reach extended; I'm confident the total of those whose lives he touched for the better is a multiple of that number. His was truly a whole-life well-lived.
I also knew Mike from the basketball time, and did some roadtrips with him in the old Carleton Blue Station wagons. Kind and decent are some words I agree with . Did not see the notice of the memorial out in CA, and just found a photo of Chris and Mike from a 2009 reunion tour we did to the Cheese Cave Store in my home town of Faribault.
