I just read about Kathy's death in the Summer 2017 Voice. I'm heartbroken. It's too soon. We kept in touch via good old-fashioned letters. There's nothing like finding a thick letter in the mailbox from a friend like Kathy. I am making a donation in her name to the Hearing Loss Association of America, as requested by the family.

I was so sorry to hear that Kathy had passed away. Although I did not know her well, I do have very pleasant memories of her as a fellow student in an American history course during my sophomore year. As it happened, we were randomly assigned as partners on a term paper project. We soon discovered that we were quite sympatico, especially in our humor. As I recall (quite fondly), we spent far more time laughing than working. Our greatest laugh, however, came when we discovered that we'd been given a grade of A on our paper. I'll never forget the look of shock on her face (which I know must have been mirrored on my own), and the way we subsequently dissolved into uncontrollable peels of laughter, which was only exacerbated by the puzzled look on our professor's face. All of this to say that my brief acquaintance with Kathy was sheer delight and remains one of my favorite Carleton memories. ❤️
